Our Hanover Harps FC Fundraiser

Your contribution makes a big difference, Thank you

We have come a long way since our first game. It was played on the green in the Hanover estate between the staff of Quinnsworth and the residents of Hanover.

From small beginnings come great things.

In 1993 we were invited by the Carlow and District League (CDFL) into a development league with just 3 other clubs. A year later our CDFL membership was confirmed and our first competitive game was against St. Anne's. In those early years we played our home games on what is now the rugby pitch in the grounds of Carlow IT.

In 1997 we moved to our now home “The Plots”. We secured a 35-year lease and a forty-foot container became the hub of our club.

Through much hard work and support from our members and community and with the aid of a capital grant we have built our clubhouse, secured a grant for a six-a-side Astro pitch, developed and maintained two playing surfaces, erected floodlights and a perimeter fence. On the playing side success has been plentiful, especially in recent seasons culminating in our senior A side winning the Premier Division title in 2018 and the greatest achievement of all coming a year later when our u-15s became the National Cup Champions and brought home the Evans Cup, the oldest cup in Irish grassroots football.

When we started in 1994, we had just one junior team. In 2020 we now have our little kickers u4s-u7s, non-competitive u8s-u11s, competitive juveniles u12s-u16s, youths, 2 junior teams, women’s, and senior teams.

We now want to build on this success and improve and develop our club further. To do this we are launching a Grassroots Fundraiser in conjunction with both the SFAI and FAI. This initiative includes a weekly draw just for our club members and the funds raised will massively help with the development of our club in these uncertain times. We hope that our club members, parents, families, and players past and present can support this initiative.

In recent weeks, our showers have been installed, dressing rooms painted, and a perimeter fence has been erected for the safety of our players. With funding at a premium now this exciting initiative will help fund the below planned works

(1) Astro Surface Replacement (2) Improved Pitch Maintenance, (3) New Floodlights (4) To equip our conference room and (5) Most importantly it will help provide the best and safest sporting environment possible for you and your children.

Thanks in advance for your continued support and the best of luck in the weekly draw.
